Scott and Amara's wedding took place in Decatur, GA on a sunny spring day in March. Their ceremony was held at the Lutheran Church of the Messiah and their reception at the cute Wahoo Grill! For portraits, we decided to drive over to Emory University's Miller-Ward Alumni House, which is extra special because Scott and Amara are both Emory Alumni! While the entire day was a blast, the highlight for me was experiencing a taste of Nigerian culture. If you know me, you know that I love learning about new cultures, so I was so excited when I found out that Amara comes from a Nigerian background. My favorite part was during the reception, when friends and family gathered on the dance floor to participate in a Nigerian tradition known as "money spraying." I later talked to Amara about this tradition, and she explained that money spraying is typically when wedding guests bless the bride and groom while they dance by throwing money at them. How fun is that?! Check out the photos at the end of this post for a taste of that fun tradition!
Scott and Amara, your day was absolutely beautiful! Thank you for allowing me to be a part of it and capturing your sweet love for one another.
I hope you all enjoy these highlights from their day! Also...how awesome is the random van parked on the street in Scott's portraits? I love it! Thanks to my second shooter, Minoo, for capturing those.
