The Mill at Yellow River Wedding // Cara + David
Gosh, I have no idea where to even begin with this day and how special it was to me! Cara is a very dear friend to me + old roommate from college, so photographing this wedding meant so much to me. When Cara and David got engaged, Cara and I grabbed dinner to celebrate and we chatted about the possibility of me photographing their wedding. She wanted me to photograph her wedding, but she also wanted me to be able to enjoy the day as a friend (which is so Cara to be that considerate!). I told her that I wanted nothing more than to capture her day, but that I would be really sad at the reception. I’ve learned over the years that when I photograph close friend’s weddings, I feel like I’m missing out when the reception hits because I see all of my friends hanging out and having fun. Cara and David were SO understanding and wanted me to be able to have fun and enjoy their day, so we came up with the perfect plan: I would photograph their day up until the reception, and then my second shooter would take over for the reception. It was the best of both worlds! I was able to photograph their day, which is what I wanted, while still being able to enjoy their wedding as a friend. Nicole Little from Wild Heart Visuals KILLED it second shooting for me and taking over at the reception. I am so so thankful for her and could not have done this day without her!
So here is a peek into their beautiful (and abnormally cold) wedding day in March at the Mill at Yellow River. Cara is one of the most loyal, loving, and steadfast friends anyone could ask for and I am so lucky to have her in my life + I am beyond honored to have photographed and witnessed these friends becoming Mr. and Mrs.!
